"Graduating from high school has never been so deadly..........."
Graduation Day is a 1981 cult slasher film directed by Herb Freed and produced by Troma Entertainment for Columbia Pictures
If you have never heard of Troma look them up they do a lot of crazy shit and they are independent...This however is the only movie Im in love with that they put out.
Graduation Day is complete trash ( ok it really is trash lovable trash ) in a lot of peoples eyes its extra cheesy and it really cant be considered serious..some people hate cheesy horror flicks but I love some from the 80s they just make me laugh..
The intro at the beginning of the movie looks like an after school special and it won me over with its catchy song
At the start of the movie Laura is running a race and dies of a heart attack or something at the end of the race
her sister Anne is sent so that on Graduation day she can accept Laura's medal for winning.
Right after that the murders start happening starting with a girl running in the woods and then it shows someone cross out her picture in a track team group photo...
One of the next kills happens to be my favorite it is so cheesy ..a jock gets impaled on a football with a sword stuffed in it! Classic
Another kill is a pole vaulter falling onto a bed of spikes..also very cool
The kills in this are just fun ..they aren't scary but you have to love them!
the movie also stars Linnea Quigley ( Return of the living dead ) and strangely enough Vanna White ( Wheel of fortune )
Anyways one by one the team members who seem to only live for sports end up dead
the killer is dressed like a fencer and has a stop watch and sword.
but who is the killer is it the sister the boyfriend the coach one of the team mates a school teacher
is really very obvious in the first few minutes of the movie who the killer is painfully obvious
I decided to make this write up a short one but if you like 80s cheese this is for you!
The body count is 9
I first watched this movie on youtube but I decided to buy it to add to my growing collection.
Watch it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlmtF3oe1HM and tell me what you think
